DIOCESI – Grande festa all’Istituto delle Pie Convittrici della Carità di Ripatransone, meglio note come Suore Teresiane, che la prossima settimana celebreranno i 25 anni dell’apertura delle due comunità nelle Filippine.
Oggi, lunedì 15 Settembre 2025 mons. Gianpiero Palmieri è in viaggio verso l’arcipelago del Sud-est asiatico e vi resterà alcuni giorni per festeggiare insieme alle Sorelle Teresiane la speciale ricorrenza. Ad accompagnarlo in questo viaggio Don Nicola Spinozzi, parroco di Ripatransone e direttore diocesano dell’Ufficio Missio.
Per l’arcivescovo è la prima visita da quando è divenuto vescovo della Diocesi di San Benedetto del Tronto – Ripatransone – Montalto, quindi questo viaggio sarà anche l’occasione per conoscere le due case presenti nelle Filippine: una nella cittadina di Tontonan, appartenente alla municipalità di Loon, nella provincia omonima all’isola di Bohol; l’altra nella popolosa città di Consolacion, nella provincia omonima all’isola di Cebu.
“Siamo veramente grate al Signore per questi 25 anni di servizio alla comunità qui nelle Filippine – afferma la Madre Superiora Suor Grace Pitogo –. Siamo grate anche al vescovo Gianpiero per la sua attenzione nei nostri confronti. Siamo consapevoli dei suoi numerosi impegni legati agli incarichi che ricopre sia come vicepresidente della CEI sia come vescovo delle due Diocesi del Piceno, quindi consideriamo il tempo che ci dedica molto prezioso”.
“In questo momento – prosegue Madre Grace – il nostro pensiero va soprattutto a Suor Concetta, che ci ha lasciato pochi giorni fa, e a Suor Carmela, che invece è nella nostra Casa Madre a Ripatransone: senza la loro forza e la loro determinazione, oggi qui nelle Filippine non ci sarebbe nulla! Il nostro ordine religioso, infatti, nacque a Ripatransone nel 1747 ad opera dell’allora vescovo diocesano Luca Niccolò Recco che lo fondò insieme a due sorelle, Agata e Beatrice Benvignati, che erano devote a Santa Teresa d’Avila e che avevano intenzione di aiutare i giovani dell’epoca e in particolar modo le ragazze, insegnando loro specialmente i lavori ritenuti al tempo particolarmente adatti alle donne. Per molto tempo i vescovi non permisero alle nostre Suore di uscire dai confini della Diocesi, reputando che la nostra missione si dovesse svolgere soprattutto in queste terre. Fu poi Mons. Gestori a permetterci nel 2000 di valicare i confini diocesani e così le nostre Suor Concetta e Suor Carmela si spinsero fino alle Filippine, iniziando l’opera che oggi noi raccogliamo. In 25 anni abbiamo costituito due comunità importanti, con conventi, scuole, chiese e luoghi di ritrovo e convivialità. Grazie al Signore per aver permesso tutto questo. E grazie alle nostre Suor Concetta e Suor Carmela che sono state strumenti operosi nelle mani di Dio! Infine un ringraziamento speciale va anche a tutti i fedeli di Ripatransone e delle Filippine, per il sostegno e la fiducia alla nostra comunità”.
Mons. Palmieri partirà Lunedì 15 Settembre alla volta delle Filippine, mentre l’arrivo nell’isola di Cebu è previsto per Martedì 16, quando avrà anche l’opportunità di visitare tutte le strutture della comunità. Mercoledì 17 Settembre, alle ore 9:30, il vescovo Gianpiero presiederà la Celebrazione Eucaristica in Consolacion. Giovedì 18, invece, si sposterà nell’isola di Bohol per visitare l’altra comunità presente a Tontonan e celebrare anche lì l’Eucaristia.
“Attualmente la nostra comunità religiosa è formata da 25 Suore – conclude Madre Grace –: nella Casa Madre di Ripatransone siamo 11; nella Casa di Consolacion ci sono 9 Consorelle, mentre in quella di Tontonan ce ne sono 5. Questi 25 anni sono una benedizione e un grande dono di Dio! Guardiamo al futuro con speranza, rinnovando il nostro impegno a vivere il Vangelo attraverso le opere di carità, misericordia e amore, nei luoghi, nei tempi e nei modi che il Signore vorrà”.
DIOCESE – A grand celebration is underway at the Institute of the Pious Convicts of Charity of Ripatransone, better known as the Teresian Sisters, who will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the opening of their two communities in the Philippines next week.
On Monday, September 15, 2025, archbishop Gianpiero Palmieri will fly to the Southeast Asian archipelago and will remain there for a few days to celebrate this special anniversary with the Teresian Sisters.
This is the archbishop’s first visit since becoming bishop of the Diocese of San Benedetto del Tronto – Ripatransone – Montalto, so this trip will also be an opportunity to visit the two communities in the Philippines: one in the town of Tontonan, part of the municipality of Loon, in the province of Bohol, which takes its name from the island that has the same name; the other in the populous city of Consolacion, in the province of Cebu, on the same named island.
“We are truly grateful to the Lord for these 25 years of service to the community here in the Philippines – says Mother Superior Sister Grace Pitogo – and we are also grateful to archbishop Gianpiero for his attention to us. We are aware of his numerous commitments related to his roles as vicepresident of the CEI and as bishop of the two Dioceses of Piceno, so we consider the time he dedicates to us very precious”.
“At this time – Mother Grace continues – our thoughts turn especially to Sister Concetta, who left us a few days ago, and to Sister Carmela, who is in our Motherhouse in Ripatransone. Without their strength and determination, there would be nothing here in the Philippines today! Our religious order, in fact, was born in Ripatransone in 1747, thanks to the then diocesan bishop Luca Niccolò Recco, who founded it with two sisters, Agata and Beatrice Benvignati, who were devoted to Saint Teresa of Avila and who intended to help the youth of the time, especially girls, by teaching them the professions considered particularly suitable for women at the time. For a long time, the bishops did not allow our Sisters to leave the confines of the diocese, believing that our mission should be carried out primarily in these lands. It was then Bishop Gestori who allowed us to cross diocesan borders in 2000, and so our Sisters Concetta and Carmela traveled to the Philippines, beginning the work we continue today. In 25 years, we have established two important communities, with convents, schools, churches, and places of gathering and conviviality. Thank you to the Lord for allowing all this. And thank you to our Sisters Concetta and Carmela, who have been active instruments in God’s hands! Finally, a special thanks also goes to the communities of Ripatransone and the Philippines for the support and trust they place in us Terisian Sisters in every situation”.
Archbishop Palmieri will depart for the Philippines on Monday, September 15th, and arrive on the island of Cebu on Tuesday the 16th, when he will also have the opportunity to visit all the community’s facilities. On Wednesday, September 17th, at 9:30 a.m., Bishop Gianpiero will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration in Consolacion. On Thursday the 18th, he will travel to the island of Bohol to visit the other community in Tontonan and celebrate the Eucharist there as well.
“Our religious community currently consists of 25 Sisters,” Mother Grace concludes. “There are 11 of us in the Motherhouse in Ripatransone; 9 Sisters in the Consolacion House; and 5 in the Tontonan House. These 25 years are a blessing and a great gift from God! We look to the future with hope, renewing our commitment to living the Gospel through works of charity, mercy, and love, in the places, times, and ways that the Lord wills”.
